Martha Roussell has been collecting “Lost Pet” posters for over a decade.
Roussell is an artist based in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She was born in Massachusetts, but went to California to study Fine Art at Santa Monica College and then received an AA in Advertising from Academy of Art University in San Francisco. After much more moving, she is now tucked in with her family of four in the Electric City of Scranton.
Roussell is primarily a printmaker. Her work has themes of domesticity and everyday life, and considers the edge of irony and appreciation, stoicism and melancholy. She draws influences from her life as a homeschool mom, the various places she’s lived (8 states!), and you guessed it–Lost Pet posters. She has shown her work at AFA Gallery in Scranton.
Roussell’s most recent work, a series entitled Liminal Places, traces her families’ trail of temporary homes. With a lifelong love for interior design, Roussell showcases snapshots of life at home, stark and true, precious and fleeting.
